UC Tech attendees,

Wow, what a fabulous start to this week! We want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended UC Tech 2023: Resilient, Rising & Reinspired. More than 1,000 people came together, a record-breaking 570 in person and 336 joining virtually. We also had 89 sponsor booth attendants and over 120 volunteers!

Shout Out to Everyone Involved

A big shout out and thank you also needs to go to the many people who helped pull off a fantastic event. A common reference during this year’s conference came from CIO Van Williams in his opening remarks describing the University of California as the university of collaboration. His point was spot on and so reflective of the efforts that go into hosting UC Tech. Each year this event would not be possible without the diligent work of Project Management and Communications teams, Workstream Leads, the Programming Committee, the keynote and session speakers, UC Ambassadors, our generous Sponsors, and all our Volunteers! We simply could not have had such a successful event without the help and support of all these people coming together.

Passing the Buck: UC Davis, You’re IT!

On the last day of the conference, July 19, the host of UC Tech 2024 was officially announced during the annual Pass the Buck ceremony. Faye Snowden, Berkeley’s fearless UC Tech 2023 project manager, passed the buck (handed an actual dollar) to Iris Chelara and Carol Mitchell, representing UC Davis. Carol mentioned the two of them have only a combined four months between them as employees at UC and joked that they weren’t quite sure what they were getting themselves into. Not to worry, we are the university of collaboration! Now we can all look forward to attending the conference on the beautiful UC Davis campus next year.
